Introduction

.cn is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the People's Republic of China.

The domain name administration in People's Republic of China is done through a branch of the Ministry of Information Industry. This ministry oversees everything from telecommunications to broadcasting similar to the Federal Communications Commission in the United States. The registry is maintained by China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC). The actual registrations are done through commercial registrars similar to other parts of the world. Neulevel has entered into a partnership with CNNIC to market .cn outside mainland China.

Since .CN enables you to protect your business online, a domain with .CN makes your web address unique and easy to memorize. A .CN extension is doing much more, helping you reach and communicate with the audience in China.

Conditions

Since December 21st 2009, at 9:00AM (Beijing Time), the .CN registry has set a more restrictive registration policy. Since this date, individuals (natural persons) are no longer eligible to .CN domain name registrations. From then, only legal entities are  authorized to apply for the registrations of .CN domain names.

Moreover, eligible applicants now need to fill a paper registration form and provide evidence of their identity  such as a copy of their company registration certificate and a copy of the ID of their representative. Due to these new requirements, .CN applications now bear a 5 days delay to be processed.

However holder of domain names registered before this date should not be impacted by this change of policy.
