Domainer Meeting Paris Success!

J+7 - The Domainer Meeting that was held at the heart of Paris on the 19th and 20th June, was a great success and achieved all expectations with more than 300 attendees and some high profile speakers and sponsors from the Domain Industry. This could not have happened without the presence, support and commitment of all sponsors, partners, speakers and attendees.

Xavier Buck, CEO and Founder of EuroDNS, says “I would like to first thank all our great speakers, partners and sponsors on this event for their commitment and trust. This show wouldn’t have been such a success without them, and it really demonstrates how large and tied together the Domain community is. It also shows that the European market is growing fast. I would also like to thank all the people who travelled to Paris to attend the meeting. We gathered more than 300 people, who highly contributed to the global atmosphere and set up of the meeting”.

This truly European event tackled major concerns and managed to bring the Domain Name worlds together. It also helped the Primary market understand the Aftermarket better and gave everyone the opportunity to debate major issues and hear all the conflicting opinions.

The SnapNames Live Auction event that took place on the Friday afternoon garnered $361,000 in sales. Aftermarket.com sold for $125,000, while rainbows.com and domain.pl each auctioned at $45,000. PhoneAccessories.com was sold for $25,000.

The event was all about learning, networking and fun and gave people the opportunity to communicate about current issues in the Domain Industry and to raise common understanding.

Fraudulent emails "Registro italiano in Internet"

Important information - a number of users have received letters from another entity, the so-called "Registro italiano in Internet per le imprese", which, through surface-mail mailings, (seemingly to ask the verifications of the data dealing with user activities) proposes a contract to adhere to in order to receive a service after payment.

The Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the CNR and the ccTLD .it Registry are not in the least involved with this initiative and have prepared again the necessary actions to protect any rights that might have been infringed.

The Italian Competition Authorities (http://www.agcm.it) has repeatedly issued fines - for analogous initiatives as case in point of misleading messages - against DAD Deutscher Adressdienst.

.ME Domain Sunrise and Landrush applications start

Luxembourg, 5th May - The General Sunrise and Landrush Periods for .ME domainsstart today on EuroDNS website and will last 30 days, during which domain .ME registry will begin accepting the .ME applications of trademark owners and the public at large.

EuroDNS is an accredited .ME registrar and its website is now ready to receive all applications. Xavier Buck, CEO of EuroDNS explains “.ME is the new extension for Montenegro and is expected to be utilized as both a personalized Web address and as a catchy business marketing tool around the world. The Sunrise period is restricted to trademark holders only and Landrush is unrestricted. We have been accredited by the .ME registry and our platform is now open for both types of application”.

During Sunrise and Landrush, multiple parties will be allowed to submit applications for the same domain name. The domain names that receive more than one application will go to an auction process. The Sunrise auctions will be held from 20th May to 6th June, and the Landrsuh auctions form 26th June to 15th July. In September, the Premium Names will go into auction. The .ME Open Registration process (Go Live!) is based on a first-come, first-served basis. EuroDNS will receive all applications on the 26th of June and then send them directly to the registry. On the 17th July, the .ME registry will then award the .ME domain name to the first person who submits the domain. .ME Domain Sunrise on the 6th of May!

Luxembourg, 30th April 2008 - The General Sunrise Period starts next week on the 6th of May and will last 14 days, during which .ME domain registry will begin accepting the .ME domain applications of trademark owners only. EuroDNS is an accredited .ME domain registrar and will open its site to .ME applications on the same date. .ME is the new extension for Montenegro and is expected to be utilized as both a personalized Web address and as a catchy business marketing tool around the world. The .ME domain Landrush is targeted to begin in early June, with an Open Domain Registration process based on a first-come, first-served basis in mid-July.

EuroDNS .ME domain prices for the different periods are:

DotAsia Landrush Auction starts!

22nd April 2008 - The Landrush auction process has just started for .Asia domain names and any customers, who have applied for a .Asia domain going through the auction, can now bid from the AsiaDNS website.

Any domain name that has been ordered during the Landrush phase might have entered the "open auction" process. If this is the case, the order will stay pending until the auction is over. In some other cases, for example when nobody has placed a bid during the auction, the domain might become available again after it has passed the auction phase.

Regarding the pending DotAsia Domains that have not gone through the auction yet, they will be scheduled by the registry in the following weeks. The applicants will be informed by email.

Xavier Buck, CEO of EuroDNS explains how the auction process works, “Customers have received or will receive notification emails about their domain names going into auction. An auction will last for 7 days and if there are no bids the domain might enter the GoLive phase. In case a participant bids, the auction will be prolonged for another 24 hours.

Customers can bid through the EuroDNS new interface via the main navigation bar on the left side, by clicking on ‘Asia Auctions’. They will then be able to see their account and all the information related to .Asia domain auctions: ‘open auctions’, ‘upcoming auctions’, and ‘auction history’.

The participants using the EuroDNS interface can bid freely and will be invoiced only after they have placed their final bid. The payment methods that can be used are: Credit Card, EuroDNS Credit Account or Bank / Wire transfer”.

There is also another bidding interface available, the Asia Registry’s pool auction, for which you will need to create a different account at http://dotasia.pool.com/.

Frequently asked questions about .Asia domains:

- Why is a domain displayed as free although it’s taken?
The 'whois like service' provided by the Asian registry only displays the domains that allocated or registered, not the ones that are still in process (= are in auction, or have been reserved during another launch phase, etc). Information about reserved names can be found here http://registry.asia/info/DotAsia-DomainsAppliedFor--2008-02-27.txt and here http://pioneer.domains.asia/prospects.html.

- When will the domain I ordered during Sunrise/Landrush be registered?
This depends on the Asian registry and if there will be upcoming auctions.
You will receive email notifications about the states of your domains by the entities in charge (EuroDNS, the Asian registry and Pool.com) as soon as there's news about the proceedings of your applications. - The GoLive phase started, what about the domains I ordered during Sunrise/Landrush?
The start of the GoLive phase doesn’t affect the pending domains that have been ordered during an earlier launch phase.

- Why is my domain still in ‘Ready for submission’ status?
If this status lasts for some hours the domain is in most cases already taken or reserved.

.Asia Registry Goes Live Today!

EuroDNS launches improved version of its Website

Tuesday, March 18th – After extensive beta-testing, EuroDNS launches its 2.0 website with a wealth of new features and improved services. Thought from the ground up to facilitate Domain Name Registrations even more, the site provides enhanced ergonomy with an attractive look and feel. With version 2.0 of its flagship Website, EuroDNS offers an even better interface to register Domain Names; the “address” used to access and recognizes a particular website on the Internet. Luxembourg, 13 March 2008 - .Asia Landrush closed yesterday with half a Million Domain Name applications, a majority of which were submitted by AsiaDNS. As a registry, AFNIC does not sell domain names itself. Historical First Batch of .Asia Auctions Completed

Hong Kong, 25 January 2008 – DotAsia Organization is pleased to announce today the historical smooth completion of the first batch of domain auctions for the .Asia "Sunrise" (i.e. priority registration period intended for intellectual property rights owners). The auctions proved to be a massive success in contrast to previous chaotic rushes for domain names that leave brand owners frustrated. Did you know that you can even apply for generic terms now?
The so-called Sunrise 2B has started, which means that Trademarks applied for, on or before Dec 6, 2006 from around the world are now accepted. For example, if you created trademarks especially for the .eu Sunrise, you can use them now again, since the country in which the Trademark is registered does not matter.
And now the special is coming: Register your Mark in combination of a Generic Word describing your business, the DotAsia Registry allow this in their rules. So if you are in Realestate business and your Trademark is ABC you are allowed to register ABCRealesate.asia or ABC-Realestate.asia or RealestateABC.asia or what ever the registry accept... Even combination of 2 or more Marks is possible.
Also, if you operate a Registered Entitiy in Asia such as a company or an organization you are allowed to apply for the name as well, but the entity must be located somewhere in the asian Region.
If you trademarked your domain name with the Top Level Domain (ie EuroDNS.com) you are now allowed to register the name itself, omitting the TLD (eurodns.asia).

AsiaDNS Urges Fast Action for the New .ASIA ‘Sun

Trademark holders who have not yet registered domains for the new .ASIA identity are risking the possibility of cybersquatting, advised Frederick Schiwek, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at EuroDNS (http://v2.eurodns.com), parent company of AsiaDNS (http://www.asiadns.com). Cybersquatting is the practice of registering and using a domain name containing someone’s trade name or a similar-sounding name with the intent of selling it back to the owner of the trademark or brand name at an inflated price.

“Basically, a cybersquatter holds your domain name hostage, and you usually have to pay that person quite a significant sum of money,” said Schiwek. “Complainants have legal recourse in some cases, but that also means headaches as well as financial pain. This is why Trademark holders should act now and register while they benefit from the head-start given by Sunrise Periods: It is safer and more cost-effective to head off cybersquatters by going through the domain registration process.” .ASIA is the new top-level domain that allows for domain names encompassing the entire Asia/Pacific region, from Turkey to Japan. The next phase of the “Sunrise” (SR) early registration process, the SR2b, SR2c and SR3 periods, launched on November 13, 2007. “Asia represents 60 percent of the world population and 45 percent of Internet users,” said Schiwek. “So these new domains provide the opportunity to reach millions of people in booming economies.” Interested parties can visit AsiaDNS.com or the recently redesigned EuroDNS Web site to determine if their preferred domains are still available. Applying for Sunrise validation involves a nonrefundable fee of 90 euros, while the annual fee for a .asia domain is 18 euros. Through a partnership with the discount travel site Asia.com, EuroDNS/AsiaDNS will also provide successful applicants with .asia.com third-level domains at no extra cost until the landrush phase of the Sunrise registration. “Almost two years ago, we witnessed an enormous run on .eu domains when they became available, and the same thing is happening right now with .asia.com domains,” said Schiwek. “Many trademark holders have protected their brand and business names by taking advantage of the ‘Sunrise’ registration period for the new .ASIA identity to claim appropriate top-level domains, but other businesses may find their rightful domains in competitors’ hands if they don’t act fast.” Potential registrants can sign up for their domains at http://www.asiadns.com or http://v2.eurodns.com.
